1. Cognitive/Learning Evaluation
We begin by discovering students' Learning Profile: cognitive strengths and weaknesses, learning mindset and style, and any other impediments to success.
2. Customized Instruction
Instruction guided by students' Learning Profile: presentation, information, and customization are all desgined to use strengths to bolster weaknesses while fine tuning learning mindset.
3. Better Grades & Better Thinkers
Developing underlying skills while teaching school subjects means students finish their work, are ready for the test, and are prepared to succeed independently in the future.
1. Cogntive/Learning Evaluation
A student’s underlying cognitive skills, mindset, and psychological and emotional makeup play a significant role in their ability to succeed—what we call "the other 50%." Our Learner Evaluation focuses on these three critical, often-overlooked factors to provide a more comprehensive approach than traditional tutoring.
Cogntive Skills
Cognitive skills are the core mental abilities that enable a student to learn, process, and apply information effectively. These include skills like memory, attention, reasoning, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
Learning Mindset
Attitudes and beliefs about one's ability to improve through effort and persistence. It shapes how we approach challenges, embrace feedback, and stay motivated in their educational journey.
Psychology/Emotions
Anxiety, depression, emotional regulation and resilience, stress management, self-esteem, lack of motivation, and difficulty with focus can all significantly impact the manner in which a student must be tutored.
2. Customization Instruction
We create a customized tutoring program based on your unique skills, needs, and schedule.
Better Grades - Our first goal is to ensure that students learn the material, get their homework done, and are ready for the test.
Better Thinkers - By developing the underlying skills through tutoring, we make sure students are not only doing better in class, but are better prepared to excel independently in the future.
3. Better Grades and Better Thinkers
Learn the Material and Develop the Skills
Traditional tutors teach the material but ignore cognitive and mindset development. Academic and executive functioning coaches work on the underlying skills but don’t help with school learning or completing assignments. Only Paul the Tutor's makes sure the work is done right, the students are ready for their tests, and they have the skills they will need to thrive independently in the future.
